About the event
For the first time in the Kishle – a modern, Israeli art exhibition featuring leading Israeli artists.
The Kishle building, formerly a police station and a jail, the southernmost part of the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum and adjacent to the walls of the Old City, hosts the “Umbilicus Mundi” exhibit opening on July 9.
“Umbilicus Mundi” is a polyphonic and multi-sensory, physical and metaphoric exhibit, seeking to create a network of personal and universal symbols connecting the topics of umbilicus, midpoint and the world. The exhibit includes works in various media – video, painting, presentation and sound – that interact and synergize with each other and with the physical space of the Kishle.
Artists presenting in the exhibit:
Hannan Abu-Hussein, Sharon Balaban, Matan Daskal, Yehudit Sasportas, Sahar Azimi, Merav Shinn Ben-Alon, and Lihi Turjeman.
Curators: Dr. Adina Kamien and Malo Zion
